Charisa is a digital mentorship matchmaking web app to help you connect with a mentor or mentee in advertising, fashion, music, and tech.

Here’s what you’ll do

  1. Create your profile.

  2. Read some blog posts on how to be an awesome mentor.

  3. Check your email for mentee connections!

  4. Up to five mentees can connect with you at one time.

  5. Confirm the connection and wait for your mentee to reach out. <3

  1. Create your profile.

  2. Search for your perfect mentor. You can connect with one mentor at a time - for now!

  3. Make the connection.

  4. Read some blog posts on how to be an awesome mentee.

  5. Wait for your mentor to confirm your connection, and reach out!

  • In our traditional mentorship program, we recommended three months to stay connected.

    We are not providing strict guidelines on this. You may only chat a few times with your mentor. That’s fine. You might invite your mentee over for Thanksgiving. Do you. However short or long the connection is, it is OK.

  • While we still have the intention of connecting and elevating creative women of color, Charisa is for everyone. We will have many mentors over our lifetime, and we deserve to have access to anyone who can make a difference in our lives. This includes all races and genders.

  • First, we need to populate the app for you with lots of mentors! We estimate this will take 2-3 weeks. Follow us on IG at @womenwhocreatenyc or subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know when signups are open.

  • Create your profile, and you’re all good for now! In the future, you’ll be able to disconnect from mentees once you make the connection. This will free you up for another person to match with you. Or, you can max out at five and will be unavailable for other matches.

  • Our current community is comprised of mostly students and professionals in these industries. Right now our goal is to be able to provide everyone with a match! We hope that we will be able to expand our industry options in the future.

  • Typically, mentors have 5+ years of experience in their field and are passionate about giving back. Please only sign up if you intend to make time to meet with your mentee.

    Mentees are typically juniors/seniors in college or have less than five years experience in their field.

    This is not a strict list of requirements! Ultimately, it is up to the mentor to decide if they are a right fit for the match.

  • In Greek mythology, Charis is one of the Charites of “Graces,” goddesses of charm, beauty, nature, and human creativity.

    Since we’re rooted in creativity as an organization, we felt it was fitting! Then we added an “a” at the end to make it our own.

  • No! It’s a web app, meaning a platform that we created on a web site.

We are a 501(c)3 and an all volunteer team. Your donation and sponsorship helps us keep our programming free or low cost. Please help us by making a monthly contribution to our work.
