How to Make the Most of Your Mornings

Mornings. They can be super rough for some and strangely calming for others.

Me? I’m a morning person! I love waking up when the world is a bit quieter and having at least one hour of “me time.”

Sometimes self-care means nighttime baths with candles and a delicious dinner, and sometimes it means amazing morning routines that set your day up for ease. I know, it sounds wayyy less sexy. But it’s never too early in the day for self-care!

Here’s a look into my weekday morning routines!

Mondays, Thursdays, Friday

6:30-6:45AM: Wake-up time

I get up a bit earlier on these days, so I can make it to my 8AM boxing class feeling awake and ready to go.

6:45AM: Make morning coffee, drink 16oz water, and make bed

I start every morning by chugging my water bottle, but I definitely need a cup of

coffee before sweating it out. Starting your day with a bottle of cold water is not only refreshing, it kickstarts your hydration throughout the day.

7:00AM: Make toast with butter, have a cup of coffee, change into gym clothes, and get ready to leave

I always save my favorite bread for early mornings. It gives me something to look forward to - try to plan your mornings so you have something that helps you get out of bed easily - yum!

7:30AM: Leave for gym

My gym is about 10-15 min away from me, but I like getting there a bit early to get set up without rushing. Practice giving yourself some extra wiggle room so you’re not under time pressure.

8:00AM: Boxing class

This is something I love to do to get myself moving in the morning. Find a way to move that works for you! Whether it’s dancing, doing yoga, or going on a morning walk, moving your body for even 10 minutes in the morning can help you feel energized.

9:00AM: Class ends

I love bumping music on my walk home to reset and mentally prepare for the day.

9:20AM: Return home, make breakfast or protein shake

My breakfast is one of the few unplanned parts of my day. I eat what feels right for my body that day. It could be a yogurt, protein shake, avo toast with eggs, or a nice treat from a local shop!

9:35AM: Shower & get ready for the day

It’s important to get ready for the day even if most of us are just working from home. It helps me feel like there’s a real start to my day.

10:00AM: Start the day!

Tuesdays, Wednesdays

7:00AM: Wake-up time, make bed, drink 16oz water

Making your bed is a small way to tidy up your physical space and headspace. Start the day with a small good habit, and it may help create more habits later!

7:15AM: Change into gym clothes and brush teeth

I like to wear gym clothes first thing in the morning for two reasons. First, it’s so comfy! Seriously, why not wear athleisure all day? And second, it motivates me to get to the gym after work, because, hey, I’m already in workout clothes so let me get my butt moving!

7:30AM: Morning walk & review to-do list

As you can tell, all of my favorite tips are related to setting yourself up for an easy and a positive day. Reviewing your to-do list can make a stressful day seem more manageable. Take five minutes to prioritize things on your list (and maybe even put them in time order)!

8:30AM: Return home, make coffee and breakfast

Coffee and breakfast - the point in my day I don’t restrict myself to plans, and I just treat myself to whatever I’m craving!

9:00AM: Wash face & get ready for the day

Give yourself some self-care first thing in the morning. A simple skincare routine can help you look and feel your best!

9:30AM: Start the day!
